Persimmon @ Pisang Kaki

This is a persimmon or 'pisang kaki' as we call it in Malay. It is now priced at $5.99/kg. It can be cheaper sometimes, depending on the seasons I supposed. The bright yellow colour of the skin always catch my eyesight.

As far as I can remember, the first time I had this fruit was in Medan. At that time I was about 5 - 6 y.o. There's a picture of me eating it in the middle of the market. Why do we call it 'pisang kaki' is always a wonder. I've seen the tree, not even close to a banana tree at all.

The colour of the flesh varies from pale yellow to red. This is because of the relatively high content of carotenes. Some people like to eat it when it's still crunchy, but I prefer to wait until it becomes soft, but not gooey. I think it tastes sweeter that way. Just wrap them in a plastic and keep them at room temperature will expedite the process of ripening.

During this winter time, most of the fruits have been priced a little bit higher. So does the vegetables. However, don't make this as an excuse not to eat fruits and vegies. There's a lot of varieties to choose from. Make them as a compulsory diet every day.

    p/s kak tirana di s'pore sekarang. kak tirana ada tulis tentang parenting style di blog. Kalau ada masa AzD boleh lah masuk baca.

    hehehe..masih banyak lagi pasal parenting yang kak tirana nak share...Saja kak tirana buat sikit-sikit dan pendek2 supaya tak penat orang yang nak membaca..hehehe..

    Oh ye pasal usia anak berapa perlukan disiplin..Ada satu buku yang kak tirana baca, dia kata usia 3 tahun..tapi sebenarnya bergantung pada tahap kematangan anak. Ada anak yang usia 3 tahun belum pandai memilih. Start buat peraturan bila anak dah pandai buat pilihan bila kita bagi pilihan pada dia.

    Kak Tirana dulu pernah jugak hadapi masalah macam AzD. Apa yang kak tirana buat, kak tirana sorok aje sweet jangan bagi dia nampak. Anak yang berusia dua tahun, kalau dia tak nampak sweet tu rasanya dia tak minta kot. Bila nampak tu yang dia mula buat kerenah..hehehe.. Kalau dia dah ternampak, samada kita bagi aje atau pun kita distract attention dia kepada benda2 lain. Bawak dia jalan2 kat luar ke supaya dia lupa pasal sweet tu.. Itulah yang kak tirana buat dulu.

    Saya setuju, kita kena sesuaikan dgn perkembangan anak. Memang saya cuba macam2 tips and tricks, explore new things everyday. Budak2 besar ni mmg seronok buat bermain, tapi nak suruh dengar kata yang payah, hehe. Apapun, they really grew up fast, rindu masa dia baby dulu, hehe.
